// How it works
PHOTO TO CITATION IN 10 SECONDS.
No manuals, no guessing. Here's what happens between taking the photo and fixing the defect.
1. SNAP A PHOTO
Choose the vehicle type and inspection area, then take a clear photo of the component: a tread gauge in a groove, a brake chamber, a placard, or an ELD screen.
2. AI ANALYSIS
DotCheck's vision model reads the image and checks it against an embedded corpus of 49 CFR Parts 390–397 and 171–177 and the CVSA OOS Criteria.
3. GET CITATIONS
You get each finding with its CFR section, OOS severity (Out-of-Service, Critical, or Advisory), and a plain-English fix.
4. FIX & RECORD
Repair it before you roll. The inspection is saved to the unit's history so your fleet has a time-stamped record.
WHAT TO PHOTOGRAPH
- Tires: tread depth with a gauge, sidewalls, and duals
- Brakes: chambers, pushrods, slack adjusters, linings, and hoses
- Lighting: stop, turn, clearance, and marker lamps, plus reflective tape
- Coupling: fifth wheel, kingpin, safety chains, and glad hands
- Cargo: straps, chains, binders, and edge protection
- HazMat: placards on all four sides and shipping papers
- Documents: ELD screen, medical card, and annual inspection decal
WHAT YOU GET BACK
Each result includes an overall status (Out-of-Service, Violations Found, or Clean). Each finding then lists:
- The regulation, for example
49 CFR §393.75(b) - A severity level based on the CVSA OOS Criteria
- What the inspector would see
- The corrective action to clear it
